Guy's little piece of the web

Younger me   Older me
Before   After

I was born in Hutchinson, Kansas. After graduating high school I attended the DeVry Institute in Kansas City, MO. I lived in Eldorado, KS for a couple of years before moving to Wichita, KS. Cheryl my wife and I meet in 1990 and were married in 1991.

In 1974 I was licensed as ham radio operator WNØNNK, Novice Class. The following year I upgraded to Advanced Class as WBØNNK. In 1996 I finally got around to taking the Extra Class test and became ABØDP.

I started working with computers in 1971 but didn't own one until around 1979. (Sinclair ZX1 and Atari 400 modified into an 800.) I wrote a program and built some hardware in about 1980 to decode Morse code on my Atari. I even got it published in a national journal. About that time I decided that writing code was best left to teams of programmers. I was on the internet sending email in the early 90's. There was also ham radio packet. That was something like a wireless computer BBS.

My first web site was in 1995 and there have been several since. The first was on AOL, or was it called Prodigy back then? For several years I had one at fmsstv.net and now I have ksguy.com. I also have been web master for warc1.org and a few other minor sites I would rather not identify.

My working career has been electronics. I started with Lafayette Radio and Radio Shack but also did Land Mobile (2-way radios) and data printer servicing. In 1976 I switched to avionics at Learjet and later at Rockwell Collins from which I am sort of retired.

Today I build web sites and do some volunteer work for CERT. That is the Community Emergency Response Team in Sedgwick County, Kansas. Cheryl and I like to do Geocaching.
